Visit Talangama Wetland for an assortment of brilliant red Dragonflies such as Elusive Adjutant, Eastern Scarlet Darter and Spine-legged Redbolt and with luck two rare gomphids. Around the lake we can find many pond damselflies including endemic species of Gems, Sprites, and Thread tails. The list of species in these wetlands is around 24 and growing. The common species are like beautiful butterflies, such as Tailed Jay, Common Crow, Common Palmfly, Common Rose, Common Sailor, Plain Tiger and Common Tiger.

A World Heritage Site, the Sinharaja Rainforest is a destination that every naturalist should visit during your holiday to Sri Lanka. 1 Day in Embilipitiya
In Embilipitiya you can spot butterflies by using fruits as bait. The area consists of a wet and salubrious climate so you can easily spot butterflies when they come to feast on the food, You can head towards a less travelled jungle route and spot more while enroute you can visit an old Colonial House of a Chieftain.

You will get some fruits which can use as baits to spot butterflies. You can keep those on some selected spots, such as Bamboo bushes and on the trunk palm trees and wait for the butterflies so you can spot them easily. In the afternoon check-out & proceed to Weddagala / Rakwana. You will be taken through the jungle route so there is a chance of spotting some more butterflies.

2 Day in Nuwara Eliya
While in Nuwara Eliya you can visit so many locations that are bound to have these little critters flying around. Some of the places that you will be visiting include the Lunugamvehera Sanctuary, the Hakgala Botanical Gardens, the Horton Plains National Park, and the city of Nuwara Eliya which is the heart of the Central Highlands.

Stop at Lunugamvehera Sanctuary. You will be able to see many butterflies such as The Tailless Line Blue, Ceylon Tiger, the Forget-me-not, The Blue Pansy, The Large Oakblue, the Common Jezebel, The Common Laser, the Indian Awl king, the Common Sailor, the Chestnut Streaked Sailor, The Tree Nymph, The Red Helen.
Next Stop at Ravana Ella waterfall.
Hakgala Botanical Gardens
In the afternoon visit The Hakgala Botanical Gardens, look with a catchy eye, you will be able to find lots of rare Butterflies among the flowering trees and plants
Horton Plains National Park
Visit the beautiful Horton Plains National Park in Ohiya, with its montane grasslands and cloud forests. Enjoy the majestic views from the precipice of World's End and the cooling sprays from Baker's Falls. Catch glimpses of the many endemic fauna that make their home in the plains. Through forested areas where we might spot Paragomphus henryi, Elattoneura centralis, Indolestes gracilis, Libellago greeni and several Drepanosticta species.

Nuwara Eliya is set in the heart of tea-country is a beautiful town where the British succeeded in creating a replica of the English countryside, with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne.Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church, a famous golf course and beautiful parks give the place an air of nostalgia. Situated 6,200 feet above sea level, the air is cool and fresh – a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city life.
2 Day in Kandy
Your two days in the hill capital will be spent calmly with a quick visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the later on explore the vast gardens of the Hunas Falls Hotel which boasts of a great climate for butterflies and various little insects to thrive in. There are natural trails where you can walk about
The Temple of the Tooth Relic
Visit The Temple of the Tooth Relic a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was built in the 16th century as the place of veneration and protection for Lord Buddha’s sacred tooth. Walk through the beautifully embellished passageways and elaborately painted halls, done in red, cream and black. Lounge against delicately carved pillars and get amazed by the beautiful golden statues. Get an unforgettable experience of history and art.
Later visit around the Hunas Falls hotel’s gardens and ponds. With the blessings of climate, you will get a chance to spot an uncommon species.
Enjoy a walk around the nature trail, estate and streams & will be able to spot Gossamerwings, Emeralds, Brook damselflies (Platycnemididae) and other stream species also Jewels (Libellago), Skimmers (Orthetrum species) and several others species as well.
