At the end of the Main House we've set up a great big room ideal for families or small groups happy to share. The room has four large single beds - two four-posters and two standard beds, the latter best for pushing together if it suits families.

Garden Cottage Double And Twin Bedrooms

Just down from the Main House, the Garden Cottage has four bedrooms - two set up as doubles (with Queen-size beds) and two as twins (with large single beds). Each room has a cute mezzanine level with extra single bed - ideal for children, or just a cool meditation spot. Bathrooms a little larger, each with stand-alone claw-foot tubs.

Top House Double And Twin Bedrooms

Three large double/twin bedrooms line the Main House - sitting on top of the rock that puts the 'Gala' in Rukgala. King-size double beds (or two large twins in one case), with very comfortable mattresses, offer views out over the pool, trees and lake beyond. Bathrooms open onto the private terrace with similarly great views.

About Rukgala, Digana

Rukgala was conceived from a passion and enthusiasm for this very beautiful and still pretty unknown part of Sri Lanka. Out of a crumbly, empty old house we've fashioned something we hope will make an ideal sanctuary, both for those wanting extended retreat space and those just seeking a shorter escape in the hills.

Rukgala sits wonderfully close to lesser-known temples, lush green tea estates, the untouched mountains of The Knuckles and secluded villages that dot the shores of the Victoria Lake.

These surrounds make for a wonderfully mixed, and, dare we say it, authentically Sri Lankan experience during your time with Rukgala . We'd love to take you catamaran-fishing on the lake; send you off hiking to the caves of the Bambaragala Temple; and set you en route to plunge under waterfalls on tea estates in the foothills of the Knuckles.
